It is important to breathe big when feeling strong emotions, positive or negative, but especially negative. Fear and anxiety, in my experience, can be much less suffocating and exhausting when my breathing is open and full, as opposed to my default mode of breathing, which is rather shallow (accompanied by poor posture). These emotions need room to exist, and it is much easier to learn from them, and carry them, when my body is more open.
